online thoughts - response to Rajdeep's Blog!

Rajdeep - Its an excellent Article and I must congratulate you for the same. While I was reading the article, Nandan did ring in my mind and when you mentioned him in yoru ps, it was my minds reflection. I would say that there is a difference between Nandan and Tharoor/Ramesh, the latter are supposedly real politicians who got elected through main door or back door. They are accountable to public as they have been directly or indirectly elected by them. Where as, Nandan has been nominated for the post and he is a cabinet mister rank but not a minister himself. This makes him aloof from criticism, that does not mean he does not write or did not venture into public foray, remember the mail that probably circulated to every person in India about his first day in office and other things?
The only issue is, he has been extremely careful in venting out his views and he is a "shy" person. Everyone knows that Nandan was equally responsible for Infosys as was Murthy, but just the way Nandan conducts himself is different than other holding "big" positions and public offices. Either way, I think our politicians should be bold enough to say something and face it, rather than just shrug off responsibility. We also have to have politicians who are powerful and can become powerful through their caliber.
That said, they should also perform and do justice to the ministry they are heading. I see some glimmer of hoem from the first time contenders/ MPs who are silent but are doign some meaningful work, how they do not get institutionalized into the "raj" and continue putting their trial balloons in the public arena and see the response. As Priyanka Chopra argued in her article today " stop thinking and dreaming... step out and fight to make it a reality... You will never regret it!" Have fun and be responsible (and no, it is not a paradox)!!!
Avadhani!
